Kick drum just clicks... [SOLVED]

  • Hmmmm just playing around and I've found that if I push on one of the M5218Ls then I get a nice kick.

Just crimped the pins slightly in order to get a tighter fit, but it's still very temperamental - the slightest touch on the IC will make it stop working and need jiggling back into place...

Also, out of the main mix, the kick is really really distorted - like turning the volume pot up to 9'oclock (7 o'clock is zero) and it sounds mega loud through the main mix. Individual out it's fine... This might be where I used one of the incorrect values of resistor?

Solder the M5218L in place. Take you time and solder 1 pin at the time, with a small pause between, if you are concerned about overheating.

Couldn't face the idea of unsoldering all the sockets, so I've just soldered all the M5218L's into the sockets - no more flakey bass, but still way too loud through the main mix - I'll make a new post for that.. :D
