J12 cant go to J2.
4 meets
8...
J8 - J5 (5Pin)
J10 - J2 (8 pin)
J14 - J6 (6pin)
J11 - 1 (4pin)
J12 - ? (4pin)
J13 - 3 (4pin)
This is me guessing using logic, (5,8,6 pins is easy) comparing photos and the schematic

.
As I'm away from my main board and the number for the connector between HC & RS is
obscured by a hole or some shit I can't see it...
Is this information out there or are people just guessing from the photos here

I guessed from the images, and "knowing" where different drumsounds came out of the mainboard and "knowing" wher they would end up at the outputboard. And of course matching pin1 to pin 1 and so on for each connector.

Hi Hoffman, the way I figured out where each group of 4 wires went was by looking at the picture in the directions. It happened to be in color so I could follow each group of wires from the IO board to the main board. Also you are correct as to the order the wires go in. You can see a small number 1 and 4 on each side of the connector point on the main board, then it's just a point of making sure the wires coming from the IO board stay in that same order.
The order is all the same with each connector point having #1 being the far left and #4 to the right, if you're looking at the board from the side of the bass drum/first section which would make the sequencer to your left, bottom of the board. The picture I spoke of in the directions is located in the IO board section, last page.
I hope this helps you.

Thanks for the reply man.
See this is the problem. People having to make guesses from photos because they are not grade 10 nerds. Me included!
This should be in the build guide...

Not numbered so the below numbers are top to bottom (Main board & right to left on the IO board).
1. -15v
2. GND
3. GND
4. +5v
5. +15v
J10 - J2 (8 pin)
1. GND
2. N/A
3. TRID 1
4. DIN CLK
5. DIN ST
6. MIDI OUT
7. MIDI IN
8. +5V
J14 - J6 (6pin)
1. MIX IN (R)
2. GND
3. MIX IN (L)
4. GND
5. MIX OUT (L)
6. MIX OUT (R)
J11 - J1 (4pin)
1. BD
2. SD
3. LT
4. GND
J12 - J4 (4pin)
1. HC
2. MT
3. RM
4. HT
J13 - J3 (4pin)

You're welcome, and that's a very good idea you came up with to help out others. clear and concise.

Hi all very useful advice thank you - I am waiting to get all the last bits before I open all of the nava boxes and attempt to build.
I have seen a few people mention the pre crimped cables which to me seems very sensible.
There are a lot of options online - can any one advise wether you need male - male or male - female please?
Its been nearly a year waiting for all my components to arrive and these, some SIL IC sockets and a component tester are the only things still outstanding so want to order right first time.
any ideas would be appreciated
regards

I've used coloured flat ribbon cables, so everything looks nice and tidy.
First I was concerned about the cross section, but they should work fine in AWG 28 (except for the 5 pin power distribution cable)
