Re: +15 volt on +5 volt and visa versa mistake
I still think it's the Atmel that is bad or not programmed properly. You're lucky as I'm in the same boat at the moment. My Yocto got bricked by some serious static discharge and got stuck. No response at all after playing well for months... I tried to flash it again with an Arduino and an AVR prog...

Re: +15 volt on +5 volt and visa versa mistake
p.s. Ikke. I think my Atmega may be the only one broken or faulty. It's weird that the stepping lights light up when i put power on the machine. I think that if the 595's or 165 are broken there wouldn't be any lights. But maybe i'm totally off now. :) I don't know... if the 595s are broken or faul...

Re: +15 volt on +5 volt and visa versa mistake
I accidentally shorted +15 to the +5 rail (or the spi clock line). Had to change most 595s and 165s aswell as the atmega1284. There was a couple of the 595s and 165s that shorted to ground and i could measure resistance across the pcb to more or less pinpoint which ones. The atmega1284 was just wei...

Re: +15 volt on +5 volt and visa versa mistake
Well... component switching is out of the question here because you didn't use sockets for the 165's and 595's and I wouldn't recommend it either, I think that would be a last resort. You could have a look at the wiring of JP4 and if the optocoupler IC4 are fine. After that, you've checked all poss...

Re: +15 volt on +5 volt and visa versa mistake
And with not soldered you mean on IC side right? I've retouched them all again but i don't see what you mean precisely Yes! Have a look at your first picture with IC4 on it... do you see what i mean when you look at pin 9,13 and 15 for example? The same goes for IC 2,3 and 7... Thanks! But i've ret...

Re: +15 volt on +5 volt and visa versa mistake
Also what do you mean with inspection? Retouch all the solder joints of all the sequencer IC's? Some pins don't look very well soldered. Do you have a clue where i can find out which pins of the IC's get 5 volt? For the 165's and 595's: pin8 = ground pin16 = 5Volt Thanks! All IC's have 4.95 volt on...

Re: +15 volt on +5 volt and visa versa mistake
Don't stress to begin with and take your time! I would leave the IC's how they are and only desolder them if you're sure that they're damaged because damaging the boards (lifting pads or traces) is easily done even by the more/most experienced DIYer... Ordering parts is a pity so just order everyth...

Re: +15 volt on +5 volt and visa versa mistake
But i've found c18 the polarity to be reversed. I reversed that but no luck. Could it be it has been destroyed and i need to get a new one? The electrolytic capacitors will damage when connected the wrong way. Not sure if it broke immediately, usually they pop open at the top when you do something ...

Re: +15 volt on +5 volt and visa versa mistake
Thanks! I've retouched all the soldering.
Also i made a better pictures page with high res pictures!
