Is it worth buying higher quality caps and resistors?

I just replaced the electrolytic capacitors by equivalent for audio application. But it should not change, much except a longer service life for audio capacitor. I replaced almost all ceramic disc by styroflex. I have not changed resistances.

Currently I think about ordering other resistors as the ones in the kit are too thin for my taste also. Mainly for mechanical reasons as most of them can't soldered flat to the PCB. But I'm unsure whether I should go for 1% metal or 5% carbon film. Price is nearly the same and I don't use carbon film anymore for other projects but we talk about a drum machine from the 80s... Opinions?

Old post I know, but thats what im trying to decide rummmms - stick with 1% for the better noise, or 5% for 'authenticity'.

bumping this - im just about to start building, anyone have any further info/findings in relation to low ESR caps, 1% resistors?

Another bump. Does anyone have a link to parts list for improved caps?

I created the following parts list last year. Please verify! Reichelt removes silently some parts if no longer available. Also check the discount when ordering the resistors (buying 100 is cheaper than 51).
