Hi there, I have a different type of 6N138 and I just want to double check which pin is pin 1:

Is it where the dot is printed, as expected, which says 'anode' in the spec sheet?

Normally the dot is indicating pin 1 so I would say that is correct. On the specsheet, the "anode" dot is where the anode (pin2) of the led is.
