new build: rumble on snare

hi all,
i just finished a yocto build and everything works
however, there is one issue on the snare, namely after a few minutes of warmup a rumble becomes
always audible on that channel. sometimes it stays the same, sometimes it changes and sometimes it
vanishes completely (as it should). this behaviour is independent of interaction with the yocto - if is just
let it sit there without playing anything, the rumble changes on its own.
i don't think the rumble is the regular noise from the source bleeding through
because it is so irregular and has a different color (much deeper).
any ideas what could be going on here? i touched the components in the snare section, nothing seems to get hot.
