15VAC transformer for internal power

I came across this one http://www.tme.eu/en/details/bvei303203 ... -303-2033/ to use as a 15VAC internal power supply for my Yocto. It would be small enough to fit under the i/o board in my metal case.

Is this transformer suitable for the Yocto and does it matter if i mount it quite close (1,5-2mm) from the I/O board, as in this case it would be directly under the midis? im a bit worried about the probability that it might get very hot...

Another option is to mount it on the bottom of the case but it would be nice to have everything of the Yocto mounted on the top half.

That transformer looks fine, even though it's a bit overkill at 1.9VA. The shop you linked to also sells 1.5VA, which might get you a smaller transfo.

Keeping it away from the boards has a lot to do with inducing hum, not just temperature. Check out jeroenbvo's posts on his internal PSU adventures :

Cheers mate! :)

I found a 1VA model from a local shop that might be just right. Size is about the same. Will have to make the it with the mods described in the other topics.

Hi rashed,

This one will not do!! 1.9VA on 15 Volts will only give you 126mA!! A=VA/V
You would want something like a 15VA 15V transformer, that will give you 1A.

BTW, if you have ElSchtroumpfs' case, you have sufficient space to put a transformer.

Cheers Jeroen

Terribly sorry about that, I mixed up VA and A. As jeroenbvo stated, you need at least 1A to power the Yocto.
