MIDI START/STOP

When using slave mode to start/stop the sequencer, the pattern is played starting from last step and not step 1. This makes syncing to an external sequencer almost impossible.
Suggestion: External MIDI start/stop commands operate like the START front panel button and not the STOP/CONT one.
Also, is there a way to "prepare" the sequencer to step #1?
