Help with the triggering circuits

My CY is sounding beautiful when I trigger it with 2xAA batteries or steal the trigger pulse from the neighbouring circuit, but its not triggering on its own.
I am struggling with not understanding the how triggering works to troubleshoot this. To begin with I suppose I need to find out if something is wrong in the trigger logic within the CY section around Q2 and Q6, or upstream of that in the sequencer somewhere.
Incidentally my IC114 in the sequencer is getting very hot, so I need to figure that out as well and it could be related although I don't see really what it is doing directly from looking at the diagrams.
EDIT: also just found that TP1 is no longer giving me 13V, its about 0.45 and rises a little. so something has gone wrong in the sequencer since I built it but all the other voices are still triggering...
I am looking in to things to test but since the trigger circuits seem to be the same across voices I hoped maybe someone else would have some general ideas that could help point me in the right direction or suggest any ways to trace the trigger signal... I tried measuring the trigger voltage in another working voice and I don't think my multimeter can pick up the pulse so I can't do that.
