Any Advice for Assembly?

I recently bought the Yocto2 and I wondered if there is anything I should look out for before I start building? Or is it simply a matter of soldering the correct components in the correct place? Does the advice for the original Yocto here: https://masutopedals.wordpress.com/2016 ... ding-tips/ still apply? Thanks.

Another good build blog: https://tr-bob.tumblr.com/page/2

Some advice I'm using myself:
  • Use a decent soldering iron and solder. I'm using Kester '44' Rosin Core.
Wear eye protection and use a fan to vent your workspace.
Get some good quality side snips, a desoldering pump and some braid.
    Use a forming tool
Use a heat sink when soldering the transistors.
Get a cheap component tester on Ebay.
    Don't use a mains transformer.
Take your time and try not to make any mistakes

I would say go component by component, value by value. But before start with a new value count to make sure you have the correct amount. It's faster and there are fewer chances you'll make a mistake. If you end up with an extra resistor 47k, you know you made a mistake, but chances are you won't if you're a little bit careful.

Also, be careful when clipping leads. I was clipping too fast and pulled a couple pads.

In the end, I didn't have any problems when I powered it for the first time.

Thank you both for your replies. It's good to see that there is nothing too specific to this build and its generally just advice. Thanks again.
