I found these with an easy google search..I'm guessing they're a knock-off at that price though.. https://www.utsource.net/ic-datasheet/M ... 76071.html

Though, I am not sure if these are authentic, or if they are even correct because I don't know what the 'other' 4 digits mean on the ICs. Mine say '1Z18'.

I need to find at least 1 myself, but would like to have a few extra in case I need to replace any in the future.

Can anyone advise on the negative to using a M5218AL?

I had one spare and can't seem to tell the difference when using it in place of an original?

To my ears anyway

on the BD i replaced one with a AL for testing, after burning the old while fixing the BD bug...

it was hard to compare since it wasn't A/B, but to me it felt like the AL gave it a bit harder sound, slightly distorted, but like i said hard to compare without A/B'ing...

i ordered some M5218L of ebay, with silver markings (not from china) i think they sound ok, but i don't have a comparison to the ones from the kit... and i don't think the minimal buzz that is still there after the fix is because of that M5218L...

and check this TR-909 tear down here on this image you can see that this 909 has 5218 with sliver markings...
