Rimshot/Claves sound strange

Hi ppl.
As I already mentioned in another thread, I'm experiencing a weird issue with the rimshot/claves sound.
I feel it might have something to do with the VCA envelope of that sound, but I'm not sure. What you can hear is that when the time between two notes (rimshot or claves) is long enough, then they sound identical. After reducing this time between notes further and further, somewhen it starts to affect the sound - please hear it in the following audio example:

Can anybody help me identifying what might be the source of this issue and eventually how to repair it?

Thanks,
Flavio.

Sounds weird, I'll try that later today.

Have you tried them with Roll? What happens?

Welp, "today" meant "three days later" but whatcha gonna do, eh?

Your RS also sounds a bit "dull" in my opinion, and the less there is between the notes the duller it sounds. Check for shorts?

Hi!
So, where/what should I be looking for? I'm no electronics engineer but if guided I might help (myself) shed some light in this issue...

Thanks for looking into this!
BR,
Flavio.

Hi-res pics of the section (both from the top and below) could be helpful!

Let's see if these are ok:

Otherwise just tell me what/where you need to see more.
Thanks!

these look suspect. Are you sure your polarized caps are in the right way?

"Suspect" in terms of "could be shorted"?
Or what do you mean? Shall I check continuity?

I didn't build it by myself - Vincent did it for me and I believe that the caps are correctly polarized, otherwise wouldn't it pretty much not work at all?
Thanks for your help,
F.

Yes, check for continuity, at least visually and preferably with a multimeter.

If a polarized cap is in the wrong way it could work nicely for a while, then it'll probably short which makes a lot of current go through it and it might blow, or if there isn't that much current available it could stay as a short or it might blow just enough to cut the short and then it wouldn't function as a cap anymore. Anyhow, lots of caps act as timers for circuits and your problem sounds timing-related, so check all the caps also.

Do you have an oscilloscope? I'm wondering what's the pulse width of the trigger signal going in to the RS/CL, https://www.dsl-man.de/display/DSO/Yoct ... -Clave.png around R299?
