Nava 1.01a BD C89 confusion

Discuss Nava construction and related issues
  • Do you have the new MUX_SH boards? If yes, you can leave C89 empty, as well as C517, C518, C519, C163 (SD), C164 (LT), C165 (MT), C166 (HT), C167 (RS), C168 (HC).

If you don't have the boards yet you should get in contact with e-licktronic. They really improve the accent behaviour of your Nava!

No, i haven't heard about the MUX_SH boards. They are free for previous orders? The accent system isn't working properly without it? That's a bit of an error I have to say..

Related question; I have one last cap on BD - the C10. In the parts list it says it is a 10/16 uF Cap, meaning 10uF and 16V rating as far as i know. But there's only one electrolytic 10uF cap in the BOM, which is rated 50V. This should be ok to use, correct? This is the one I have from the mouser BOM https://www.mouser.dk/Search/ProductDet ... M1HBK0511P

    Cheers KlangGenerator!
  • There is a thread on the forum to enter your name to receive MUX_SH boards. They are free if you enter your order number. I believe he is waiting to receive the next shipment of boards to fulfill the remaining orders. As heads up they are SMD (smallest package is 0805).

You can use the 50V cap. I'm assuming the 16V rating came from the original 909 specs. Much better to use the 50V rated cap.

Thank you, I will do that.

Still not fully understanding what the MUX_SH board does - there's one quite technical description and what I gather from that, is that it improves the accent by speed and less opamps etc - in other words; it's a simpler solution and less prone to errors. Correct?

It's just a little annoying that this isn't mentioned in the build guide and there is no clear explanation of what to do for what reasons. Now i am a little stuck between building my Nava as it is or begin waiting for more parts to arrive ... :)
  • Nava is a big build and big builds are confusing. I actually ordered a 1.02 board and the MUX_SH boards were missing from the order (an oversight by e-licktronic). Upon notifying Vincent he sent them immediately. I'm still waiting for mine to arrive but I completed my entire build except the MUX_SH boards. The only thing impacted will be accent will not work. You can get all your voices working and the sequencer tested (minus accent). You can omit a few parts from your 1.01a board by reading this thread (also noted in the build guide for 1.02 boards). This will save you some desoldering time in the future.

It's a daunting task to build a Nava/Yocto. Just have patience and enjoy the ride.
