Clap longer decay?

Postby FlavioB » Sep 25th, '20, 21:45

Hi all.
I had the chance to have an original TR-808 in my studio and so I compared A:B with the Yocto I own.
I noticed that the clap on the 808 has way more decay (it sounds almost like if it's passed through a reverb!)... the Yocto one is very short. Is there any way to change this sound on the Yocto?
If yes, how?

Thanks and regards,
Flavio.

When you first start up the Yocto, the clap decay time will be very short. After the clap is triggered a couple times, the decay should get longer. If you stop the sequencer for too long, the decay time will get short again and the circuit will need to be triggered a few times before the decay time gets longer again. This is weird of course, but it's just how 808s work.

Is this the problem you're describing, or is there something else wrong?

Maybe it's just the standard clap trimmer..? Just make it hotter and some more decay may appear.

Hi Gihaume... can you point me to the right trimmer? I did not build my Yocto by myself...

If you have a correct level of snappy when at max for the snare then only the one in the clap section, otherwise it could also be the noise one.

I think Gihaume is talking about trimmer TM3.
