Blue LED Resistor value?

Discuss mods, hacks, tweaks, etc.
  • Blue LED's have generally a higher forward voltage (voltage drop across the diode) than other colors. Hence less mA will flow through a blue LED at the same resistance - so actually no problem.... but...

I wouldn't recommend blue LEDs in general! I used them on a couple of projects and can confirm what others are saying too: IT'S A VERY ANNOYING, IRRITATING AND BLINDING LIGHT TO YOUR EYES!!!

Of course warnings didn't keep me away from using blue LED's then... so here are some advices.
    - blue painted LED housings are much better than clear housings
    - blue LED's under matt transparent buttons are much better than direct radiation
    - check different resistor values for comfort for your eyes... I went up to 3k3 (instead of 200R) on one of my projects.
  • Thank you very much man!!
