[solved] Bass Drum BUZZZ

Discuss Nava construction and related issues
  • So, can anyone just try to bend pin3 and connect a wire to the psu boards gnd and see if it helps? :-)

(I'll check the tempo decoder tomorrow and find a ul for the wav)

Just to add, my Nava is dead silent, it's just the BD for me that has the issue with hum / noise.
As mine original TR-909 dead silent S/N ratio except Bass Drum, and as I asked before do you hear noise variations while changing TEMPO POT???
Hi, no noticeable variation when changing the tempo.

I tried it, i also tried move out opamp with q12 Q6 and Volume pot
    No changes
  • :( ... oh, a shame it did not work. Thanks for testing it out!
  • Seems that most of the noiselevel is coming from the bassdrum section. With the bassdrum volume down to zero, the rest of the output is way more silent.
  • Buzz from my BD:
    BD volume at 100%
    Main out at 60%

  • it's the same like the OP and me have..
  • Dear Diyer,

We are working on this bassdrum Buzz issue.
Here is the work we done without success unfortunately:

-De-solder Q12 and Q6 to isolate the buzz. So it come from IC11A
-Tried to connect IC11 Pin3 to PSU ground and others ground points.
-Tried to cut some traces to prevent ground loop
    Image

-Cut +15V traces between IC13 and IC11 cause this via is very close to IC11 Pins and replace it with a wire.

    -Unplug sequencer PSU

PCB layout are available here: Top layer and Bottom layer and in the download section on Nava v1.0 product page.

We are still working on it, your help will be great appreciate.

  • Great that we now have the traces. And good work on trying to get to the bottom with this!
