Carbon Film Resistors

Does anyone know why Carbon Film Resistors with a 5% tolerance (Xicon 291-100K-RC) are used for all of the 100K resistors in the Nava BOM instead of Metal Film Resistors with a better tolerance? I was measuring these and they have a wide range of values that are rarely close to 100K.

Not sure why they are 5%, no specific reason except ALL resistors on the original 909 are 5%. Same with most x0x originals. Hence the typical variations in each box.

There are very few places that the exact specific values will matter, you could use 5% everywhere, except maybe when its a value like 80.2K specified or other funky value. And of course the matched ones used in the digital bits, but thats more about the sample playback than anything. In the analog parts, really it doesn't matter much.

Great, thanks for the feedback. I ended up putting in some extra time to pick the most accurate ones but good to know that it won't really affect it too much. :)
