Fried Regulators?

Discuss Yocto construction and related issues
  • I've never soldered a v-reg with the heat shield on. The heat shields are for getting rid of heat while the unit is running for long periods of time. For the usual 1-2 second of soldering time, it's almost definite they can take it.

I would just look up the data sheet for the v-regs and test them directly with your meter. You should be able to make good contact if you flip the board over temporarily.

Also, have you seen this thread?

  • Yes I did see that thread, I also just replaced my regulators, so it must not be them.

I really took my time soldering everything in, and I've checked time and time again that everything is in and in the proper orientation.

I'm really stumped here, I just put in the new voltage regulators and I'm still getting the same results which probably means i didnt need new regulators, but at least I know its not them.

So according to all the images accompanying the build instructions, I have everything in right and have checked all of my solder connections to make sure that they are solid.

I'm guessing one of two things, either I have a defective power supply board (don't know if this has ever happened to anyone before), or I'm missing something huge.

I'm attaching pictures of the board, as well as pictures of me testing it, to see if anyone can spot my error.

I really appreciate the help and feedback!!

  • maybe I'm testing for voltage incorrectly?
  • It looks like your digital multi meter doesn't switch to DC...
I see AC in the screen while you want to measure DC at the output of the powerboard.
Or can you set that manually from AC to DC?
