15VAC transformer for internal power

Discuss Yocto construction and related issues
  • That transformer looks fine, even though it's a bit overkill at 1.9VA. The shop you linked to also sells 1.5VA, which might get you a smaller transfo.

Keeping it away from the boards has a lot to do with inducing hum, not just temperature. Check out jeroenbvo's posts on his internal PSU adventures :

  • Cheers mate! :)

I found a 1VA model from a local shop that might be just right. Size is about the same. Will have to make the it with the mods described in the other topics.
  • Hi rashed,

This one will not do!! 1.9VA on 15 Volts will only give you 126mA!! A=VA/V
You would want something like a 15VA 15V transformer, that will give you 1A.

BTW, if you have ElSchtroumpfs' case, you have sufficient space to put a transformer.

    Cheers Jeroen
  • Terribly sorry about that, I mixed up VA and A. As jeroenbvo stated, you need at least 1A to power the Yocto.
