  • e-licktronic is gonna send a couple replacements -- A+ customer service marks, thx u guys
  • That is wicked customer service… well done.
  • Same here, I broke two germanium diodes on the high tom when trying to desolder them.
According to the basic DIY principle the first thing I break is kind of hard to find. Can I put a 1N4148 or any easy to find diode, just for the moment to continue building before I receive the 1n60 ?

We didn't test with 1N4148 but it will do the job

  • Yes it works. I will use the 1n60 as soon as they arrive and try to hear what it changes.
  • I also had a problem with the leg coming out. Here is an alternative supplier. Shipping and price is not too bad in the US. http://store.americanmicrosemiconductor.com/1n60.html

Just am wondering did the 1n60's from American Micro Semicondutor.com work out? If so--I'm thinking about proactively ordering a few--as I'm a pretty clumsy guy and might break a few as I'm building out my kit.
  • I had no problems with mine. It isn't worth ordering in advance as the shipping fees will make it expensive unless it is just part of a bigger order in which case why not since they are cheap.
  • This is of course rather late, but I used 2 fine pliers to bend the legs of diodes. They're pretty thick, so you need more force - it's best not to apply that force to the body of the diode.
