5V rail changing to 7.5v with accent pot

Hey dudes

So I’ve started my build. I have the done the accent and the bass drum.

I’ve noticed that when I turn the accent pot up all the way, the 5V power rail increases from 5V to 7.5V.

With the accent pot closed or up to 50% I get 5 volts everywhere on the 5V rail.

At the moment I have nothing built that uses the 5V but I imagine turning up the accent pot and sending 7.5V to the sequencer chip when it’s soldered would not be good.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

Cheers.

I had this but can't remember exactly. I think connecting everything to the i/o board resolved it.

Thanks for the info man.

Yeah, i've resoldered the whole of the 5v section (which as I have not done the sequencer yet, is just the accent) and also checked for a short between 15v and 5v which i don't have.

So hopefully when I solder the I/O it will go away like on your build.

I wont insert the sequencer chip until i'm sure the 5v is actually 5v and not 7.5 which it is with the accent pot turned up at the moment.

Ill report back when i've done the I/O board.

I think it's wrote somewhere in the build guide to not power on before having connected all the cables to the i/o board.
