Clave is triggering everystep.. low volume

hey,

i just finished the yocto except the cymbals and hh section.. i miss there 1 resistor and 1 capacitor..
but i had to try it if it works :) j
well.. it does. as far as i can tell at the moment..
but what really is not okay is that i can hear the clave on every step (but very low volume)
i can set the steps and then i hear it loud, but you can hear it in the background.. like dididididididididi :lol:
rimshot works good but i think you hear teh clave in the background too...
any ideas.. would be great.

thanks in advance
sascha

just a update...

this sound i hear in the CLAVE/RIM section is in "both" instruments. i can program the sound.. that works
but its like the sequencer triggers every step without a sound, hard to explain...

but now .. well.. today i tried to find a cold solder point as long as the seqeuncer was running.
i lift up the mainboard and somehow i had a short on my io board :(
damn.. now i get +5V +15v and -4,8V
so no sound at all... i hope its only the 7915 voltage regulator. just orderd a few :)

so if i have insted of -15v only the -4,8v .. there cant be sound?

best

if there's no better idea, i suggest you turn the yocto OFF for some time, so all the capacitors discharge
then measure the resistance from ground to the +15V rail, and from ground to the -15V rail
maybe also repeat this measurement when you desolder the negative regulator

if you get a significantly low resistance on the negative rail, this probably means that replacing the negative regulator will not fix the issue

while you're at it, look close at all the solder joints
also check for any metalic debris (amputated component legs) between the actual components, or anything else suspicious

Thanks for the reply!

well.. it worked fine till i fired one of the regulators. of course there could be moore damage in the psu.
i tried to meassure

with the 7915

+15V --- Ground -> 40k
-15V --- Ground -> 5k

without the 7915

+15V ----- Ground -> 40k
-15V ---- Ground -> 4,5M Ohm

I am no expert but willing to learn :) hope thats not complete useless :)

hm.. well.. 5k is not crazy low, altho it shows quite a difference compared to the positive rail..
solder it and cross your fingers

Thanks for the advice..
It was the 7915 :) Now the Yocto is running again. Only the problem with the "low volume" triggering in the RIM Section.
i mean you can hear every step but not loud. and he plays no sound, only a click on every step.
any ideas?

BEST!
