Re: Cymbal square wave problem
Hi Vincent, I am replying to your last post too, I hope this is OK with Tom & Seven as we seem to be experiencing the same problem with our Cowbells. :( I checked all the solder joints and went over them a second time. U1 Pin voltages: Pin 14 = 4.47v Pin 7 = 0v Here are the grabs you requested: ...

Re: Snare snappy not working
Hi,
Recheck all the soldering in the snare section, especially around VR9 the Snappy pot. Also check around R127 in the Noise section.

Re: cowbell sound problem, not the right 808 sound
As I understand it; U1 supplies square waves to both the Cymbal and the Cowbell. TM1* & TM2* adjust the pitch of the Cowbell. U1 can output six square waves, I don’t think the Cymbal shares the same outputs as the Cowbell. However this is just what I have read and I stand to be corrected by anyo...

Re: cowbell sound problem, not the right 808 sound
OK, so I swapped out U1 4584N for another generic Hex Schmitt Trigger and it made absolutely no difference
Both the pitch and the image on the scope were exactly the same as before.
So I guess the problem lies elsewhere.

Re: Cymbal square wave problem
Hi Seven, Indeed I hope to check the Schmitt Trigger IC very soon, and I’ll report the results ASAP. If you are using Audio Explorer as your scope the red and green lines show the right and left channels. You can select one or the other channel from the menu (sorry can’t recall which one as I am awa...

Re: cowbell sound problem, not the right 808 sound
Hi Seven, I have the same problem despite changing R44 & R45 as per the build instructions. My Cowbell is too low and the output from my Schmitt Trigger looks more like white noise (on the Oscilloscope) than a square wave. I am also discussing this problem in this thread: http://www.e-licktronic...

Re: Cymbal square wave problem
Hey Tom, I have a very similar problem the output on my oscilloscope is exactly the same. Also the pitch of my Cowbell is way too low, changing R44 & R45 does not have much effect on the pitch. I have a replacement Schmitt Trigger IC to try out, just need the time to install it. I’ll let you kno...

Re: My Yocto Sounds Amazing!.. but bassdrum is a bit strange
Hi Fella, I used the Micheal Fischer samples of an early 808 for reference. These have been systematically recorded at various settings with no external effects. They can be found here and make excellent comparison material: http://smd-records.com/tr808/?page_id=14 Comparing my Yocto to these and ta...

Re: Handclap not sounding
Hi Misa, I remembered someone else having problems with their Handclap, in the thread Vincent commented: It seems that you need to calibrate the Cowbell. For the Clap. The thread is here: http://www.e-licktronic.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=146&start=20 The trimmer on the Handclap only nee...
