Re: My build log - missing parts, questions and suggestions

would it be possible to get a screenshot of the mid tom section layout where the traces are visible?
would make debugging so much easier!

Re: My build log - missing parts, questions and suggestions

I replaced the m5218 IC20 with a tl072 rigged onto a pin header to test if the opamp was faulty.
same result. so the opamp was not damaged.

now I'm lost at what to do and have to leave the board alone for a while to get a clear head :(

Re: Nava

Hi, The LCD screen is a little dark using the 1.2k resistor as per the BOM on the manual page. In the schematic its a 220... is this fine, too, or will it burn the backlight LED? the new haven LCD from the mouser bom comes with a resistor already on the display PCB I think. The datasheet states no ...

Re: My build log - missing parts, questions and suggestions

Currently I suspect the problem lies with IC20. I tripple checked the soldering and the resistor values of the VCO control voltage generator. But the m5218 is outputting a constant ~11.4V on pin 1 (before R12A). The input voltage from the tune knob is correct, as it gets 2.0V to 3.6V or something li...

Re: My build log - missing parts, questions and suggestions

these measures are from mid tom.

hi tom was easy. there i was missing the 68k resistor ;)

so only mid tom to fix :)

Re: My build log - missing parts, questions and suggestions

measuring continues...
the m5218 have correct power - ~13.4V on pin 8 and ~14.8V on pin 4

the cd4069 has no power on its supply pins.
0V on pin 14 and -0,013V on pin 7

Now I have to wrap my head around the schematic to understand where the error could be... or get some sleep first ;)

Re: My build log - missing parts, questions and suggestions

investigated the non working toms.
Envelopes seem to work, although mid tom envelope levels are lower than the working low tom.
Oscillators seem to be the problem. On both non working toms all 3 oscillators are stopped at -9V

Re: My build log - missing parts, questions and suggestions

main out is noisy and sounds a little bit overdriven.
single outs sound fine.

Re: My build log - missing parts, questions and suggestions

After a first short test the unit seems to generally work. =D *hooray*
Only problem is Mid and Hi Tom both only produce a short click.
Low tom is working. Any Idea where to look?

Re: My build log - missing parts, questions and suggestions

LED 11 was not working. Turns out it was a defective PCB :(
The LED resistor was not connected to the via next to S10.
No visible damage to the PCB. Even under a magnifying glass the trace looked good.
But the LED only worked after I put a piece of wire from the current limiting resistor to the via.
