Re: Yocto 1.0 won/t play, multiple pattern select buttons li
Final update- I replaced all sequencer shift registers with new ones and my Yocto works 100% perfectly now. I'm not sure what happened that fried them, but all is well at this point. The symptom was that no mater what MIDI note was sent while in expander mode, all of the cymbals would trigger. If yo...

Re: Yocto 1.0 won/t play, multiple pattern select buttons li
I'll leave this up just in case it may help someone in the future, but I ended up suspecting that I broke a trace under a socket while removing the old IC's so I pulled the new sockets and that's exactly what happened. it was positioned perfectly so I couldn't see it with the socket installed, and j...

Yocto 1.0 won/t play, multiple pattern select buttons light
Ok, so the story goes last year all of a sudden my Yocto started playing the cowbell on every step, I eventually got that corrected and then all of a sudden it started acting like the shift button was permanently stuck on. That was traced down do a dead shift register IC 7 thanks to help from you gu...

Cowbell is triggering on every step. Lol/wtf
The sequencer appears to be functioning correctly, but every step of every pattern triggers a cowbell lol. I can program the cowbell as normal, the LED's light up and go out like nothing is wrong, but every step goes bongggg regardless. Has my machine been posessed by Christopher Walken? Or is it a ...

Re: *solved* Shift button is permanently stuck on now. Halp
This is solved, it was a dead IC7. Replacements just got here and all is right with the world again.
Big thanks to Antto for the help. I would have ended up replacing all of the IC's in the sequencer section brute force style and never really knowing the true culprit without it. Much appreciated!

Re: Shift button seems to be permanently stuck on now. Halp
71 ohms won't let too much current flow, so that's good, otherwise, a full short would cause something else to heat up a lot now, if you don't see a resistor touching somewhere, then maybe it could be inside the shift register if the shift register (IC7) is socketed - remove it from the socket, and...

Re: Shift button seems to be permanently stuck on now. Halp
Resistance between pin 12 and pin 16 on ic 7 is 71 ohms. I still have absolutely no clue what is wrong. No resistors in the sequencer section are visibly touching and ive blasted everything with air for minutes. This thing worked perfectly for over a year, and then a slight bump of the table caused ...

Re: Shift button seems to be permanently stuck on now. Halp
Hey, thanks for the advice again, I had some bad stuff in the real world happen right after you posted so I didn't have a chance to try your suggestions until tonight and here are the results: There is +5v at pin 12 of ic7 at all times I then desoldered and removed the shift button and there was no ...

Re: Shift button seems to be permanently stuck on now. Halp
Thanks for the reply, i have the pcbs removed from the case and it is still behaving this way. The switch itself still appears to function correctly physically but it has no effect electronically, the rest of the machine acts as though the shift button is being held.

*solved* Shift button is permanently stuck on now. Halp
I finished my build about a year ago and have had no issues with it until last night when I sat down with it, turned it on, it looked fine, and then all of a sudden it started playing at some super high tempo... I pulled the plug, plugged it back in, and now it wont make a sound. I can't start the s...
