Hi Jeremy,

I have the very same problem with the midtom, the hum also gets louder when I turn the pitch as low as it goes. I am using an internal transformer. Please let me know if you find a solution to this, I promise to do the same! Cheers!

Hi I managed to solder this as a beginner, it took me a long time but it wasn't too hard, although some solder bridges and dry joints needed sorting later on... those problems are relatively easy to find though, the hard part is all the other troubleshooting that comes when you start turning the mac...
