Re: Assembly service for the Yocto kit

I am a very happy customer of Djvinc. His Yocto just arrived and it works flawlessly. He is a very friendly guy and his communication was always excellent and quick (within a day or two, sometimes within a few minutes!). He set a clear timeline and everything went according to plan. I even messed up...

Re: [UNRESOLVED] Completed Yocto but no sound !

You might want to start by reflowing all your solder joints for IC1. Then get the datasheet for the Atmega and make sure VCC is correct, etc.

Also, if you look at the EAGLE files, you can see that IC5 controls the sound. If this has problems, there will be no sound. Check connections, etc.

Re: Only Cowbell, Cymbal, and hihats working....

Hey man, I am no expert and I am on the run but there is a clock signal trig that goes out every sixteenth note. If you are not getting those sent, then you can't get a sound. You should hear the clicking if you probe around in the circuit like I was mentioning. Another possibility is your sequencer...

Re: Fried Regulators?

I've never soldered a v-reg with the heat shield on. The heat shields are for getting rid of heat while the unit is running for long periods of time. For the usual 1-2 second of soldering time, it's almost definite they can take it. I would just look up the data sheet for the v-regs and test them di...

It's that time of year...

Just a public service announcement. I thought I would work on my Yocto and as I touched the right side, I felt static discharge. Sure enough, when I turned it on, it would not do anything. Well, it would allow me to Init EPROM. I concluded I must have touched the Shift key and cooked IC7. Yes, that ...

Re: Only Cowbell, Cymbal, and hihats working....

Not sure what you tried already but you can check to see if you are getting triggers sent to the instruments. For example, for BD check trigger signal at the base of Q40 and also Q39 using a scope or a soundcard scope. If you are getting trigs, then the first step is check solder joints and componen...

Re: Snare snappy not working

I had a somewhat similar problem recently (OH decay did not work) and I traced it to the connections at the pot. Reflow/check the pot?

Re: BD/SD no output

Thanks Ikke, great tip! I will try that soon. Today I was testing Q70 and I get white noise at the emitter (??) and reverby clap signal at the base and collector. (I don't know anything about transistors but I would think the white noise would be somewhere else besides the emitter since it is the &q...

Re: BD/SD no output

I have a few more things to finish up on my build but even already it sounds great! #1 The Clap/maraca does make sound at the individual out but not to the master out. The schematic is clear about the path to the individual out (CP_MA_OUT), but I can't figure out the path to the Master out. #2 The C...
