Re: Comparison between an Original 808 and the Yocto 808

Hi ElSchtroumpf,

I will get a chance to borrow the original 808 again in a couple weeks. I will measure the pitch range of all the parts then and get back to you.
It is a very nice 808.

Comparison between an Original 808 and the Yocto 808

Hello all, Yesterday i finally compared my yocto to a friend's 808. His machine is one of the best i've heard over the years. To compare them, we programmed an identical sequence into both, then slaved them to each other via din-sync, and assigned each output to a different channel on a dj console. ...

Re: Ground loop between signal and PSU ground on the main bo

Thanks Vincent,

Yes i thought the same thing - better not to touch the pcb.

When i order the parts and do it, i will test and report back to the group with a photo.

Re: Ground loop between signal and PSU ground on the main bo

Thats great news Vincent. Luckily it should be very easy to change the unbalanced sockets for balanced ones. Do you have a mouser/digikey link to they exact brand/type of socket used? I can only find different ones locally (they don't fit the pcb). I'll be eager to try your mod to get rid of noise o...

Re: Ground loop between signal and PSU ground on the main bo

Bump.. We need to get these 2 issues resolved - especially for the TRIGGER OUT users.. It would be good if those that have completed their builds could check how their units work when using multiple cables, unbalanced cables, balanced cables and trig out cables.. 1 As mentioned previously, I believe...

Re: Ground loop between signal and PSU ground on the main bo

As far as i can tell, in the original 808, there is a separate audio ground and power ground. In the yocto, there is only one ground. I get hum when using the trigger outs. I don't get hum when using unbalanced leads (with no trigger outs used) I do get hum if i used balanced leads (as you would in ...

Re: S-TRIG

Hey Sal, I've been using the trigger outs and they seem to work correctly with an SH2. The envelope doesn't work 100% though - this could just be a bad decay fader on the sh2 - but it works fine triggered on other ways. I have been getting earth hum when connecting trigger out to another synth. Is y...

Re: Ground Hum - especially when using 2 or more outputs

Hello All,

I finally got a moment to do some more testing - has anyone else experienced any earth hum problems?
Would really like to solve this asap as i have a recording session lined up soon!

Cheers
